The fifth recipient of the Be All You Can Be Award is Alannah Reed. Her nomination essay reads:
I would like to nominate Alannah Reed for this award. She is always willing to help out and always has a positive attitude. In class last year, she would help out other students with their code. She is imaginative and always gives 100% on her projects. Sh is an amazing computer programmer, and I know her passion is culinary. She plans to attend the CAI through Baker College after high school, and I'm sure this award would ne a big help for her. Outside of school, she works at McDonalds most days of the week. She is a caring big sister to several younger siblings. Alannah is someone you can reach out to in a pinch, and she'll be there for you. For example, earlier this year, we were unexpectedly away from home, and she drove to our house to help lock up our chickens and she made sure everything was set and secure. She also volunteered to help me assemble the teacher appreciation gifts for all the teachers at my sons school. She is an exemplary young woman, and I recommend her for this award.
The fourth recipient of the Be All You Can Be Award is Aiden Muller. He was nominated by Kari Shagena. Her essay reads:
I would like to nominate Aidan Muller.
Aidan is an all around great person. He is polite and friendly to teachers and students. He has aspirations of attending the Naval Academy and is currently on the waiting list. Below are some of his qualities I wrote about him when he applied to the Naval Academy:
I have been teaching for almost twenty years, and I have yet to discover a student more focused or goal-oriented than Aidan. What impressed me most is that he has a clear plan for his future and a path to achieve his goal of attending the U.S. Naval Academy.
Aidan demonstrates strong academic integrity and success. He challenges himself by taking both AP and honors classes and has an overall GPA of 3.521. He chose classes specifically to help prepare him for coursework at the Naval Academy. Aidan is well prepared in communication and presentation skills as well as written responses to literature, humanities and social sciences. He gives his best each day and strives to maintain high academic standards. Aidan ranks in the top 20% of his class.
Aidan knows the value of hard work both in and out of the classroom. Aidan is a member of multiple athletic teams, extracurricular clubs, and he even plays multiple instruments! Talk about a well-rounded student! During the fall sports season, he runs cross country, plays soccer, and leads the marching band as drum major. He won the Patrick Gilmore Award, which is an underclassman award for musicianship, sophomore year. In the winter, Aidan is involved in bowling and robotics. He is applying to be on the robotics drive team for his senior year. The robotics team participated in the World Championship in Texas this year. In the spring, he runs track and participates in trap shooting where he achieved All-State Honors sophomore and junior year. Aidan was invited to the National Championship three years in a row. In addition, Aidan plays in the concert band and is a percussion section leader. As an AP social studies student, Aidan competed in We The People competitions. He even finds time to participate in student government and led the class his junior year as class president.
The third recipient of the Be All You Can Be Award is Joseph Parinello. He was nominated by Edward Delore. His essay reads:
"This letter is on behalf of Joseph Parinello. I have had the pleasure of knowing Joseph for the past four years. I have also been fortunate to have Joseph as a student in Social Studies and as a member of Richmond Varsity Baseball Team at Richmond High School. I am eager to say that he is one of the hardest working student athletes that I have ever seen. It will be easy for me to write this letter on his behalf.
Joseph is hard working, conscientious, and professional. He is always eager to be flexible when the situation occurs. He takes his schoolwork and his responsibilities very seriously, and he is never satisfied with anything less than his best effort. In addition to Joseph's responsible credentials, he is a friendly, witty, and is an open person, Joseph is well respected by his friends, family, and colleagues. He has been involved in many events and organizations that have required him to take a leadership role at Richmond High School, which included baseball, football, and National Honor Society. Joseph has gone above and beyond the requirements that most student athletes accomplish in the classroom. He leads by example and his willingness to improve and work extremely hard in the classroom is a true testament of what type of student athlete and person Joseph is at Richmond High School. His impressive responsibilities, great academic effort with a 3.67 GPA, his amazing leadership qualities in all sports the past four years at Richmond High School have proven that. Joseph is the kind of student athlete that you want watching your house while you are on vacation or babysitting your children. Joseph is trustworthy and responsible and that is hard to find with todays student athletes.
In closing, it is a pleasure for me to give Joseph Parinello my highest recommendation for any endeavor that he selects in life. Any award, organization, or employer will indeed be fortunate to have Joseph as a recipient, member, or employee as dependable, honest, and as motivated as Joseph obviously is."
The Lashley Family would like to extend it's congratulations and best wishes to Joseph Parinello. We look forward to seeing what your future holds. Enjoy your adventure.
The second recipient of the Be all You Can Be Award is
Jacob Ball. He was nominated by John Schleder. His essay reads:
"I would like to nominate Jacob Ball for the James C. Lashley Foundation Scholarship. Jacob
represents many of the qualities that James demonstrated while attending Richmond High
School. I remember James Lashley as a faculty member while he attended RHS. James worked
hard and enjoyed life, I see many of the same qualities in Jacob Ball. Jacob works hard as a
student. His behavior was excellent yet he could still have some fun and enjoy life. I often found
Jacob helping out other students in class if they had difficulty in chemistry. I have coached
football the past 8 years. Jacob Ball demonstrates similar characteristics that James had. Jacob
participated in all the summer workouts. He was always at the camps working with the younger
players. He never missed a day of football practice and he was a very dependable varsity
football player for three years. More importantly Jacob Ball ALWAYS found time to chat with
myself or other coaches in a very friendly manner. I give Jacob Ball my highest recommendation
for the James C. Lashley Foundation Scholarship."
The Lashley family would like to extend it's congratulations and best wishes to Jacob Ball. We look forward to seeing what your future holds. Enjoy your adventure.
The first recipient of the Be All You Can Be Award is Tristan Riggs. He was nominated by Leah Kaganac her essay reads:
"Tristan is exceptionally kind, supportive, and emotionally there for others. He is always helping others with projects, wanting to see his friends succeed, as well. He is a wonderful student and artist, but also makes all students feel welcome. I have especially loved watching him interact with our lowest functioning special needs student. There is a particular student who checks on Tristan all the time! Tristan has had a beautiful impact on this student. Tristan is there to be his buddy. Tristan also looked after this student at the Scholastic art awards, making sure he had his picture with him. Students can easily call him a friend. Tristan always had a smile on, he is funny, thoughtful, sticks up for others, seeks change and is going to make a difference. His mom says Tristan often prays for me and everyone around him, which is very heart warming and thoughtful ( I don't know if he wanted me to know). Tristan is very deserving. I have watched him grow and become a wonderful young adult who has big dreams and aspirations. Tristan is going places and he will do wonderful things for himself and others. "
The Lashley family would like to extend it's congratulations and best wishes to Tristan Riggs. We look forward to seeing what your future holds. Enjoy your adventure.
